If you're someone who feels quite intimidated by blush, our best advice is to either change the color/formula you're using, or change how you're applying it. You'll be surprised at how big of a difference these things can make! Take a few tips from Korean makeup artist Pony, who has some simple but smart techniques on blush application.
In one of her tutorials, Pony suggests focusing your flush on the center of your face to make it look more natural. For this, she recommends using cream blushes for a fresh finish, and then tapping it (don't swipe!) over the cheeks so it won't disturb your foundation. Watch exactly how she does it below:
Meanwhile, to give yourself a natural face lift, apply your blush right below the eyes to give the illusion of higher and plumper cheekbones. Using a sheer liquid blush in small amounts help create a barely-there flush, too, if you tend to overapply powder formulas. Here's how Pony does it using Glossier's Cloud Paint in Puff:
