Keeping your face smooth, flake-free, and hydrated all-day is no easy task—let alone when you're 30,000 feet high above the ground!

As anyone who has flown would know, dry skin becomes drier (and yes, even oilier) the longer you stay in a plane, and this is especially true for flights that go beyond six hours. It's mainly due to a bad combination of dry, recirculated cabin air that sucks moisture from the skin and other factors like the artificial pressure that causes "less blood flow to the skin, which may make for a dull appearance", according to a clinical instructor in dermatology Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin in an interview with Allure

But despite this skin-wrecking environment, flight attendants have always managed to look fresh and plakado throughout their volley of trips. So how do they manage to lift-off and touch-down with seemingly flawless complexions? Five Pinay flight attendants reveal what they stash in their kikay kits—plus, their pre-flight beauty rituals!

For smooth, hydrated skin:

"I make sure to pile on a ton of moisturizing products before going to work. Some of these products include the Drunk Elephant's B-Hydra Serum, and Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base. I also love using Drunk Elephant's A-Passioni for my retinol needs.

"Drinking at least four liters of water before and during a flight also works! Aside from that, I spritz on Lush's Tea Tree Water Toner Water whenever my face would feel a little bit tight [in-flight]. I also made an oil concoction composed of jojoba oil and vitamin E for my nails, hands, and arms."

For flawless, long-lasting makeup:

"The key to looking fresh for long haul flights is to use waterproof makeup! Invest in good waterproof eye and eyebrow products because they're usually the first ones to melt away in a flight."

Jaire Natividad, 29

For smooth, hydrated skin:

"To keep my skin fresh and hydrated, I always have a facial mist with me. I use it whenever my skin feels dry or when I see dry patches forming on my face. Some products that I really like are Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist, Mario Badescu's Facial Spray With Aloe Herbs and Rose Water, and Nature Republic's Aloe Vera Soothing Mist. I also spray it before and after I retouch my makeup. Another thing that I bring with me at work is an oil control blotter film. It helps get rid of the excess oil on my face. My favorite is the Gatsby's Oil Clear Sheet."

For a flawless, long-lasting makeup:

"Using a good primer and setting it with a loose, fine powder is what works for me. Blotting excess oil and spraying facial mists also help keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the flight."

"Also, having a light base and then setting it with a loose powder looks way better for a 16-hour flight, compared to when you apply too much foundation and powder on. A heavy base has the tendency to look cakey or patchy and it will feel very uncomfortable. Just remember: less is more."

Kim Altonaga, 25

For a smooth, hydrated skin:

"I usually moisturize my skin before putting any makeup on—the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is my favorite! Then, I apply a layer of primer with SPF on my skin; I use CeraVe Ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion."

"After putting on my makeup, I spritz on Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea. During a flight, I usually spritz The Body Shop's Rose Face Mist on my face, just because I love its smell!"

For a flawless, long-lasting makeup:

"I'm currently using Fenty Beauty by Rihanna's Pro Filter Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. It stays on for hours and it provides a matte finish without making my skin feel dry. Using good quality base products is key to making my make up last for hours. Also, a spritz of Urban Decay All-Nighter Make-Up Setting Spray helps keep my makeup intact, too."

Raisa Tabusalla, 28

For a smooth, hydrated skin:

"It’s really difficult to keep your skin hydrated during the flight. I just try to keep my moisturizers in my carry-on and drink as much water as I can. I also make sure that the base makeup I'm using isn’t drying. My lips tend to get dry too often so I use Burt's Bees' lip balms for that."

TRY: Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, P225, available at Sephora PH

For a flawless, long-lasting makeup:

"My colleagues would say I’m lucky because my skin isn’t oily. I barely need to retouch my make-up, even on long haul flights. At most, I’d just reapply my lipstick. It’s still recommended to have a small makeup kit on hand though, just to make sure you can retouch during breaks. I highly suggest using makeup that helps hydrate the skin like Face Shop’s BB Cushions."

Nath Roxas, 27

For a smooth, hydrated skin:

"Since we can’t really use [face] masks during work, I have two power products: first would be my Aloe mist from The Face Shop (it’s light and refreshing), and water! Drink lots and lots of water. When flying, we often get dehydrated, and so does our skin! On an eight-hour flight, I drink about two liters of water (preferably Summit)."

For a flawless, long-lasting makeup:

"I like using Fenty Beauty by Rihanna's Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation for my base. I like this 'cause it has a matte finish and it still looks good even after a 14-hour flight. For my cheeks, I use the Glossier cloud paint in Haze since it’s easy to blend and it gives me a rosy flush that lasts all throughout the flight!"

"Also, I recently started using the The Ordinary primer and I noticed a huge difference. My make up stays on and stays fresh, reducing my retouch times to just once! Also sleep has a lot to do with how fresh you’ll look! So get enough sleep or else your make up won’t stick or blend to your face!"
