Why does a zit have to appear right when you’ve got huge events like a wedding, an important client presentation, or a first date coming up? Don’t let that nasty red spot ruin your day! Check out the various ways you can banish that ugly pimple to oblivion.
Cool it down
Here’s a straightforward method to calm a zit down: Rub an ice cube over it for two minutes. The freezing temperature of the ice can reduce redness and swelling. You can also try making green tea into cubes. Green tea acts as an anti-inflammatory astringent that will soothe that red spot in a flash.
Drench it with apple cider vinegar.
Dip a cotton swab in apple cider vinegar, and then dab it on the inflamed spot. The vinegar neutralizes the pH level of the skin, making it difficult for the bacteria to live.
Use aloe vera gel.
Aloe gel is known for its cooling properties, and for being a pimple-reducing fix. Flatten that nasty red spot by patting a pea-sized amount of aloe vera gel on it. Try Aloe Derma’s Super Acne Eliminating Aloe Gel (P385, at Watsons and Health Express branches and at www.lazada.com.ph). This particular tube is also loaded with witch hazel and tea tree extracts that expedite the blemish’s healing process.
Fight it with the right meds.
Look for products with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, witch hazel, and tea tree extract. This trio zaps zits away in no time. Alternatively, products with retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acid, and glycolic acid also soothe and unclog infected pores.
Call your dermatologist.
Resist popping the pimple yourself, and contact your dermatologist. Ask her to inject and treat the pimple. When done by a professional, you won’t risk spreading infection, damaging your pores, and leaving an ugly scar behind.
