Don't you just hate it when your foundation melts off your skin midday? Or do you find it appalling that your foundation is just there sitting on top of your skin? Foundation, when used incorrectly, will absolutely look like an extra layer of product on your face like a mask. To avoid this makeup faux pas, follow these tricks below:

1. Start with clean, moisturized skin.
To avoid a flaky finish, massage a tiny amount of moisturizer on your face. You can also try a primer to smoothen the skin and to lengthen the staying power of foundation.

Try: Nuxe Creme Fraiche de Beaute Light, P1,750, at Rustan's branches.

2. Get the right shade.
When your face is lighter or a bit more orange than your whole body, try swatching your picks on different parts of your body to get the shade that disappears into the skin. Get the perfect match for your skin tone using this trick, or ask help from the lady from the makeup counter.

3. Take note of the formula.
A lightweight, water-based foundation will appear the most natural on your face.

Try: Make Up For Ever Waterblend Face and Body Foundation, at SM Megamall

3. Practice proper application.
Whether you're using a sponge, a brush, or your fingers, applying it in thin layers will assure a natural-looking finish.

Try: Beauty Blender Single, P995, at www.glamourbox.ph

4. Don't forget to glow.
Skin isn't naturally matte. When your face is too shine-free, it looks flat, pasty, and unnatural. You can choose to highlight the cheekbones, tip of the nose, and chin to fake glowing skin, or you can just use a foundation with a luminous formula.

5. Seal with care.

After letting the foundation sit on your skin, set it with a finely-milled translucent powder to prevent it from getting cakey. Also, a light veil of translucent powder will lend a soft
finish.
