Shu Uemura's acclaimed International Artistic Director Kakuyasu Uchiide recently flew to the country to celebrate the brand's 30th anniversary. Mr. Uchiide--who was trained by Mr. Shu Uemura himself-- has been in the industry for 25 years and has worked with big names such as Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

The internationally renowned makeup artist (and self-confessed Shu Uemura cleansing oil fan) gamely shared with FN his makeup tips for morenas, among other things. Check out our interview below:

1. Watching your makeup demo was a surreal experience! Where do you get your inspiration for your craft?

I'm always on the lookout for inspiration. Even now, just by attending this event, I could already see a lot of things that could inspire me. I may get inspiration from a book I just read, from a movie I recently saw, or from a memorable museum visit.

2. What is the Shu Uemura aesthetic when it comes to makeup?

The brand believes in the "less is more" philosophy. That doesn't mean being simple is boring--you can be simple but dramatic, and achieve a look that's elegant and artistic at the same time.

3. Which look do you think would suit most Pinays?

Filipinas have different skin tones, but I find tanned skin really beautiful. While there's nothing wrong with going for matte shades, I would suggest that you bring out your natural glow with glitter eyeshadow.
