A more effortless way to apply lipstick has taken its place, and it's such a classic that we doubt it'll ever go out of style. The fact that it's so easy is just a bonus.
This technique doesn't have a specific name, but it gives the lips the most effortless hint of color. Let these selfies show you what we mean:
Kathryn Bernardo may be wearing a plum hue, but it looks surprisingly subtle from the way the edges of her lips were feathered out.
It works the same way with nude hues, like this look from Kelsey Merritt. Again, spot that diffused lip line! Doesn't it supersize her puckers without looking overdone?
Still want a bit of definition? Keep your lower lip defined but blend out the color on your cupid's bow. Remember: the less visible lines, the more natural it looks!

Step 1: Dab your lipstick bullet on your lower and upper lip.
To slowly build up color, dab your lipstick on instead of swiping. This makes the bullet transfer just enough product to create a stained lip effect.
Step 2: Tap and blend with fingers.
All that dabbing will likely leave some harsh lines, but that's nothing a few taps with your fingers can't solve. Start by tapping around the edges of your lips and move on to the center if you want to reduce the strength of the color.
