Your bangs can frame and contour your face even when you're not wearing an ounce of makeup, so it's important to take your face shape in consideration and look for a fringe that will highlight your best features. Below, hairstylist Lourd Ramos of Creations By Lourd Ramos Salon tells us exactly which one you should get and why:
Round
Lourd says that long, shattered bangs with layers work best for round faces. "It should overlap with the eyes and the brows, so when you ponytail your hair, the bangs become the highlight of the face instead of [its] roundness," he explains.
Square
"For square faces, it has to be a veiled bang. This is the kind that touches the eyebrow, eyelashes, and cheeks, so [it resembles] a veil," says the hairstylist. "So again, when you pull your hair up, the 'squareness' of the face is softened."
Heart
Heart-shaped faces usually taper downwards to a pointy chin, so Lourd says you can either choose to flaunt this feature or hide it.
If you want to show off the angles on your face, he recommends getting micro bangs as the sharpness of this fringe will match your strong jawline perfectly. But if you want to soften your angles, he says go for layered, swept bangs that will add curves to the top half of your face.
Oval
To balance the roundess and length of an oval face, try a sharply cut full fringe that will direct more attention to the center of your face and make it seem narrower.
