Skipping the eyelash curler and mascara is considered a mortal sin when you’re doing makeup. Curled lashes make your peepers look bigger and more awake. Plus, your eye makeup looks more polished and complete. But if you find yourself without a lash curler (or if you’re a makeup newbie and are scared to use it), don’t panic! There are alternative ways to make those lashes pop. See our lash-curling hacks below.

Spoon it. Dip a spoon in a mug of warm water, press the curved side on the lid, apply pressure on the lashes against the spoon using your thumb for ten seconds, and then slowly move the spoon upwards.

Hold and Wiggle. Nab a fluttery fringe using only your mascara. Hold the wand at the base of your eyelashes for ten seconds, then slowly wiggle the wand upwards to lift the lashes. Repeat this step for two to three times.

Tip and grip. Right after applying your usual coats of mascara, place a Q-tip or cotton swab under your lashes and hold for a few seconds until dry.
