Korean actress Lee Da Hae, known to Filipino fans from her dramas My Girl, Green Rose, and East of Eden, got flak recently after her guest appearance on a Korean talk show where she seemingly mocked Filipino teachers’ English accent, PEP.ph reports. The actress imitated American, British, and Filipino accents by repeating the line, "Excuse me. I'm a little bit thirsty. Can I have a glass of water please?" After she spoke with a Filipino accent, her co-stars broke into laughter. The actress denied insulting Filipinos and, on her Twitter account, apologized if she “inadvertently hurt anyone’s feelings”. In her statement, she said she never mentioned the Philippines or Filipino accents on the show. “On the other hand I recall bringing up Southeast Asia and not the Philippines and the subtitles were inserted when the show was being edited of which I was not aware of until it was aired,” she said. “The TV show where this footage was taken from was designed to amuse its audience and my sole purpose was to entertain the viewers by coming up with lighthearted stories.”
