Vilma Santos, who turned 59 on November 3, says she couldn’t ask for anything more during her birthday, aside from guidance.

“I consider myself blessed,” the actress and two-term Batangas governor was quoted by PEP.ph as saying in a report on the TV5 show Ang Latest: Uplate on November 6. “Sabi ko nga, lagi-lagi, taon-taon na lang, because of my work, kung meron man akong ipinagdarasal, guidance lang sa pamilya ko at guidance sa trabaho ko as public servant (Like I’ve always said, every year, because of my work, If I’m praying for something, it’s guidance for my family and for my duty as a public servant.).”

The Star for All Seasons also said that she hopes to keep improving in all aspects of her life.“Wala akong masasabing kulang but you never stop learning,” she said. “Hindi ka puwedeng humintong kuntento na. Dapat, in anything that you do—either as a family woman or as a public servant or as an artist—kailangan you keep on honing, tuluy-tuloy, and then you learn more (I can’t say that I’m lacking in anything, but you never stop learning. You shouldn’t stop and be contented. In everything you do—either as a family woman, as a public servant or as an artist—you should keep on honing [your craft] continuously, and then you learn more.).”

When asked if she has any plans of running for higher office come 2016, Vilma said that she’d rather focus on her possible third term as governor first. “Wala akong ini-entertain na any invitation at all kasi ang nasa utak ko talaga, gobernador. Kung bibigyan ng pagkakataon, last term na, e,” she said. “Kapag last term na at naka-three terms ka, ang importante, yung pagkuha mo ng report card sa huli, kasi graduation yun, e. So dun makikita kung ano ba yung nagawa mo (I’m not entertaining any invitation at all because running for governor is really the only thing on my mind. If I will be given the opportunity, that is, as this will be my last term. If it’s already your last term and you already had three terms, your report card at the end is the most important thing because this will be your graduation. So you’ll see there what you’ve done.).”
