Toni Gonzaga is set to headline the Pinoy adaptation of the hit Korean romantic-comedy movie My Sassy Girl.
This was announced earlier today, January 20, 2021, coinciding with Toni's 37th birthday.
Toni's own movie production company, TinCan, is producing the film.
The announcement read: "In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines' My Sassy Girl. #MySassyGirlPH"
The announcement also showed photos of Toni's scenes in the movie's adaptation.
TinCan has yet to announce who will portray Toni's leading man in the film.
My Sassy Girl, the highest-grossing comedy film of all time in Korea, was top-billed by the Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun and actor Cha Tae-hyun.
The movie also became popular in the Philippines and is available in DVDs and streaming websites. Dubbed versions were also shown on local television.
My Sassy Girl also has been remade in the United States, India, China, Nepal, and Lithuania, making the Philippines the sixth country to do a version of the hit Korean film.
It also had a sequel in Korea in 2016 and a Korean TV adaptation in 2018.
