For the first time since the controversy two years ago, Sunshine, who recently wrapped up her soap Ika-6 na Utos, revealed in an Instagram post that she and estranged husband Timothy Tan are working together to get their marriage back on track, and addressed questions about the status of their relationship.
"Timothy is and will always be the father of my children," the actress wrote as caption for their family photos taken during their daughter Doreen's 7th birthday celebration. "It is his right, duty and obligation to be there for his children no matter what the circumstances may be," she added.
Sunshine, however, refused to put a label on their relationship today. The actress shared that if there is one thing she is sure of, it's that she and Tim are still bound together. "By law and more importantly God’s law, I am still his wife. Only time can tell and ultimately God if we are still meant to be together," she said.
The two have been separated since 2016, after Sunshine filed cases against Timothy following an incident where she allegedly found out he was having an affair with another woman. However, after the two parties talked things out, Sunshine decided to withdraw the case, and the two have remained civil for the sake of their children.
The now not-so-estranged couple have been peacefully co-parenting, coming together during family events at their children's schools on numerous occasions.
"Family is worth fighting for," the mom of two stressed. "Timothy is [the] love of my life. He will always be, but he broke my heart and I have also learned to survive," Sunshine stressed. "Pain is a good teacher. Pain will help you discover your inner strength if you allow it to empower you and not wallow in your despair," she added.
To moms who are in a similar situation, Sunshine said; "It is possible to set aside your differences. You have the power to choose to raise your children in a loving environment."
Sunshine also clapped back at people who may be judging her or her actions. She revealed that part of the reason she and Timothy are trying to work things out is because their children are "still hoping and praying for our family to be complete and stay that way."
Sunshine also vouched for her husband who is a hands-on father. "Tim is still a good father in their eyes," she said, which is why she's more accommodating of him. "Tim is far from perfect, but at least he tries, unlike some," she said.
The actress warned her bashers not to judge her or her actions without knowing the whole story or walking a mile in her shoes.
