This country singer first wowed the judges—Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson—with his deep bass voice in his audition, but who would have thought this simple teenager would go on to be crowned Season 10’s winner?Scotty remained a steady contender for the finals throughout the singing competition. People loved that he stayed true to himself, choosing to stick to his country roots rather than picking contemporary songs. When he finally did step out of his comfort zone, he impressed everyone with his presence on stage. Jennifer Lopez cited the tender moments in his performances as the reason for his easy connection with the audience. “The mark of a true artist,” Steven Tyler was fond of saying.
Scotty garnered more votes than 16-year-old Lauren Alaina, the other contestant who made it to this year’s Final Two. The grand finale of the show featured performances from Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and other stars—including Filipinos Thia Megia and Clint Jun Gamboa, who joined the other Top 24 contestants in a few song numbers.
