Roxanne Cabañero, the former beauty pageant contestant accusing host-actor Vhong Navarro of rape, recently came under fire when parts of her story proved to be inaccurate.
Roxanne first claimed that Vhong had picked her up at Astoria Plaza where she said she and the other contestants of the Miss Bikini Philippines pageant were staying.
In an episode of Buzz ng Bayan, however, Boy Abunda uncovered that there was no record of the contestants ever checking in at the said hotel.
That the alleged sexual assault happened on the evening of April 24, 2010 also proved to be inaccurate as Vhong was apparently with Vice Ganda during his May Nag-txt, May Concert Ako gig in a resort in Cavite.
Now, Roxanne’s camp seeks to clarify the confusion over the date and the hotel name. In a new report by Balitanghali, Roxanne’s lawyer Atty. Virgillo Batalla said that they never claimed that the rape happened on April 24, 2010, reports PEP.ph.
“Kinukundisyon nila ang tao na nangyari ang rape ng April 24 (They are just conditioning people that the rape happened on April 24.).”
“Pero kaming nag-aakusa, hindi namin sinasabing 24 (But we, the accusers, we never said anything about the 24th).”
Atty. Batalla also explained that Roxanne merely made a mistake when she said that she and the other Miss Bikini Philippines contestants had stayed at Astoria Plaza.
“Noong una, in-announce sa kanya… sa kanila na Astoria sila, pero somehow hindi natuloy (At first, it was announced to them that they would be staying at Astoria, but somehow, it fell through.).”
“At noong hindi natuloy na 'yun, na lilipat pala sila sa Millenia Suites (When it didn’t push through, they were transferred to Millenia Suites.).”
“At sa Millenia Suites, halos magkatabi 'yun, ang alam pa rin ng aking kliyente ay Astoria pa rin (Millenia Suites and Astoria are almost right next to each other, so my client thought that they were still staying at Astoria.).”
But while the management at Millenia Suites confirmed that they did sponsor a Miss Bikini Philippines contest in April 2010, the case is far from closed, for when asked when the sexual assault really took place, Roxanne’s lawyer answered, “During the time of April 24, 25, 26, and 27.”
