Robert Pattinson made his first public appearance after news of his longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s cheating broke out, with the help of some jokes and a pint of ice cream.

Said to have been “devastated” by Kristen’s affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, the Twilight star has been laying low at Reese Witherspoon’s estate in Ojai, California. On August 13, he emerged from his self-imposed seclusion to promote his new film Cosmopolis on The Daily Show, and surprisingly, he was not directly quizzed on his opinions regarding his Kristen’s indiscretions.

According to a report by E! Online, host Jon Stewart had invited Robert to spill all the juicy details over two pints of ice cream. "Now we’re just a couple of gals talking," Stewart said. "All right… tell me everything."

"I’m trying to avoid eating this. I’m going to split my Spanx," Robert replied with a straight face, playing along.

"This is the weird thing about these interviews… My biggest problem in my life is I'm cheap, and I didn't hire a publicist," Robert revealed. "I'm going to hire a publicist."

Their banter took a serious note when the host gave advice to the young actor. "When you are young and you break up, it's powerful and it feels like the world is ending," Jon said. "This is the first time I have seen the world actually react that way. It's insanity. Here is my wish for you, that you get to handle your business in private, in your personal life, and I wish you all the best."

Throughout the interview, Robert did not once mention Kristen or even referred to her affair. He likewise did not say anything about the status of their relationship.
