Rachelle Ann Go reveals that she didn't want to keep her hopes up when she auditioned for the West End production of Miss Saigon, as it took her nearly a year to get that much-coveted callback.

Sige, Lord, wala na, surrender ko na (They already sold tickets, so I felt that the roles have already been decided. At first, I was praying for it, but then I heard a lot of rumors that they are already bringing somebody else there, so I felt that it was a lost cause. So I said, 'Lord, it's okay, I'll already surrender it to You'),” she was quoted by PEP.ph as saying.

Tapos, biglaan, biglaan... Noong nandoon ako, tulala ako. Parang hindi ako makapaniwala. Hanggang sa kanina, 'yun na, official na in-announce na (And then, suddenly... When I was there, I had a hard time believing it. I felt like it wasn't true, until they officially announced it),” the singer added.

Rachelle got a final callback when the production company held an audition in Manila in November 2012. She also flew to London on the “first week of November” for another audition. She will be taking on the role of Gigi, which was also played by Isay Alvarez in 1989. IN the same production, Lea Salonga took on the helm as Kim, through which she earned a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award.

The West End production of Miss Saigon will have its run at Prince Edward Theater in London starting May 3, 2014, with 17-year-old Filipino-American Eva Noblezada playing the role of Kim.
