One thing Lovi Poe has in mind whenever she shops for clothes is she has to be able to wear it more than once.
Some fashionistas who like posting OOTDs on social media seldom repeat their outfits, but the 29-year-old actress doesn't mind wearing her favorite set of clothes over and over again.
"I'm a proud outfit repeater," Lovi told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and GMA News in an interview at the opening of Coach's new store in Power Plant Mall, Makati City, on Thursday, September 20.
The Kapuso talent added, "Never kong masasabing ROI [return of investment] hangga't okay pa siya tignan. Hangga't wala pa siyang butas or anything, okay pa siya!"
Lovi said she usually goes for classic designs.
"Before, when I go shopping, bili lang ako ng bili before kung ano yung gusto ko.
"But now, I'm kind of smart about it. Lagi kong iniisip, 'Mauulit ko ba 'to? Magagamit ko ba 'to sa ibang bagay?'
"So it's important to choose certain outfits that you can mix and match all the time."
"Siguro that's why I try to make sure to go for the classics, not the trendy stuff.
"I mean, I still buy trendy stuff at times."
One shopping tip: Imagine how you can wear a piece of clothing in many ways.
"When I look for clothes, I visualize every thing. 'How will I wear this? Can I wear this with pants? Can I wear it with a skirt?'
"I always visualize how I will wear it when and where."
One shopping habit however that she's still trying to change is her being an "impulsive" buyer.
Smiling, she added, "...I'm trying to change that."
How much does she usually spend during her shopping sprees?
Lovi said she doesn't really set a limit.
"I can't say the price kung gaano kamahal, but ang nasa utak ko all the time is when I shop for something, I make sure na it will last me a very long time.
"Sometimes kasi, when we buy certain things, it's cheaper and then, we end up buying 15 sets of it just because it's cheaper.
"But we forget that the quality is more important than quantity."
She added, "I don't put up a price limit because my thinking is that if I'm not crazy about it, I won't buy it."
What's her biggest shopping advice to those who look up to her style?
Lovi answered, "Meron din kasing... parang takaw-tingin when it comes to fashion din.
"May mga iba akong damit na, 'Bakit ko ba binili 'to?' Ilang taon na pero hindi ko pa rin nasusuot.
"It's important to be trendy too sometimes but then if hindi mo talaga siya personality, it's better to stick to what you're actually sure of, to what you actually believe is more of you."
For her closet must-haves, Lovi enumerated, "It's very important to have the perfect pair of jeans. This one is hard to find—the perfect white shirt for you.
"And it's important to have pumps—nude and black pumps. Nude and black is important for me... yun ang mga kailangan talaga kasi you can pair it with anything.
"The best black dress, you can never go wrong.
"It's important to invest in a good bag. You can use them forever, you know. It'll last you a long time, to have really good bags."
