TV networks GMA-7, ABS-CBN, and TV5 received 16 nominations in total at the 2012 New York Festivals (NYF) TV and Film Awards, reports.

The Kapuso network led the pack with nine, among them nominations for two I-Witness special reports ("Gintong Putik" and "Lapnos") and two Reel Time reports ("Lusong" and "Tira"), all under the Issues and Current Events category. Report Card, a commentary on education in the Philippines, which was hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Mike Enriquez, also got nominated under the Community Portraits category.

ABS-CBN got five nominations including one for TV Patrol's coverage of storm Juaning for Best Newscast and another for Storyline in the Biography and Profiles category.

Meanwhile, the Kapatid network scored nominations for Wanted: Child Special under the Community Service Programs category and News 5 Debates: A Challenge for Change under Politics.

The NYF Awards is on its 55th year and aims to recognize the best work in different media fields globally. Experts from the TV and film industry picked the nominees from entries submitted by media outfits from 40 countries all over the world.

The awarding ceremony will be held on April 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at which time the Philippines will find out which of the nominations will translate into wins.
