Critically acclaimed screenwriter Nora Ephron, who had been battling leukemia since 2006, passed away in New York at the age of 71, Reuters.com reports. "It is with great sadness that we report that Nora Ephron has died," her publisher is quoted as saying in a statement. "She brought an awful lot of people a tremendous amount of joy. She will be sorely missed."

Apart from telling her friends and family, Ephron mostly kept her ordeal with the disease private. In an interview with Reuters.com in 2010, Ephron, who was then promoting her essay collection, I Remember Nothing: And Other Reflections, said, "At some point, your luck is going to run out. You are very aware with friends getting sick that it can end in a second."

Ephron started out as a journalist before making the switch to writing for and eventually directing and producing movies, among them When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle. As a tribute to this formidable lady, we've listed five of her most memorable movies below.
