Now that former GMA-7 star Ogie Alcasid has signed a long-term contract with rival network TV5, many people have been asking if his wife, Regine Velasquez, will also transfer as her contract is also over.

“I know what she’s up to and I know what she’s going to do,” Ogie was quoted by PEP.ph as saying during a press conference on August 6.

Though Ogie hinted that Regine’s next career step will be a good one, he still declined to elaborate on his spouse’s plans.

“I’m not at liberty to tell you what she will do, kasi career na niya ‘yon (because that’s her career),” he said. “I think you will learn in due time what she’s up to and it’s something very, very positive din.”

Ogie also explained Regine’s absence on GMA’s Sunday musical-variety show Sunday All Stars, saying that she just finished recording a new album and would now rather devote her weekends to their child, Nate.

“Siguro nagtataka kayo [na] yung misis ko, kung bakit wala siya sa Sunday All Stars (Maybe you’re wondering why my wife isn’t in Sunday All Stars anymore)… she finished her album. Although she hasn’t stopped doing Sarap Diva,” Ogie said, referring to her Saturday cooking show.

“Sunday, she wants to devote her time to be really with the kid,” he added. “At ang alam ko, expired na rin 'yung contract niya, so now they’re negotiating (And from what I know, her contract has also expired, so now they’re negotiating.).”
