Ogie Alcasid recently gave his wife Regine Velasquez a Gucci bag when he arrived home from a concert tour in the United States. PEP.ph reports that though this gesture made Regine happy, she said that Ogie broke their agreement to not give each other expensive items for Valentine’s Day.

However, Ogie said that the bag was an exception to their rule.“Kasi, when I was in the States, nakita ko 'yung bag… nagandahan ako, e,” he had said. “You know, pag naiisip ko kasi yung asawa ko on how hard she works, at sa bahay inaalagaan pa niya yung anak namin, e, ano ba naman yung pasalubungan ko siya…‘O, ‘eto, naalala kita. Kasi alam ko hirap na hirap ka rin sa pagtatrabaho at pag-aalaga kay Nate. Eto, reward mo from me, from your husband.' Habang kaya ko pa, gagawin ko 'yun (I saw this really pretty bag while I was in the States. You know, when I think about how hard my wife works, and she also takes care of our child at home, getting her something from my trip is nothing. I would say, ‘Here, because I remembered you. Because I know that you’re also having a hard time working and taking care of Nate. Here, a reward from me, from your husband.’ I’ll do that while I still can.)."

He also told PEP about their rule about pricey presents.“Ngayon, 'yung sinasabi niyang wala na muna kaming expensive gifts… sinabi ko kasi sa kanya yun nung dumating na ako, e. 'O, Hon, ha? Let’s be practical na (Now, what she said about not giving each other expensive gifts… it’s because I told her when I came back, ‘O Hon, let’s start being practical, okay?’)!’” he said, laughing.
