Superstar Nora Aunor arrived at the Ninoy International Airport on May 2 after 10 days of shooting for a movie called Thy Womb in Tawi-Tawi, PEP.ph reports. In an interview with the press, the actress revealed what she thought of the clamor from some lawmakers and celebrities to make her a National Artist.

The star admitted that the award is a prestigious one, but she expressed her doubts about receiving it. "Para sa akin siguro, mas marami pang karapat-dapat na maging National Artist (For me, there are a lot of other people more deserving of becoming a National Artist)," she is quoted as saying.

Nora added that she had already heard about others' efforts to lobby for her when she was back in the US. "Nagpapasalamat ako kay Erap [Joseph Estrada] at kay Gloria Diaz, lahat ng mga sumusuporta na maging National Artist ako. Pero ang sinabi ko kanina, mas marami pang nararapat. (I would like to thank Erap and Gloria Diaz, all the people who support the campaign to make me a National Artist. But what I said earlier stands. There are people more deserving of the award.)"

Instead, the star chose to talk about her role in Thy Womb, which is directed by Dante Mendoza. While Nora didn't divulge the plot details, she said, "Kakaiba kasi ito sa mga ginawa ko dahil iba ang eksperiyensiya ko dito. Unang-una, naging negro ako. Natuto rin akong magpa-anak, magsagwan, mangisda, yung mga gawain ng karaniwang tao. (This is unique compared to movies I've done before; my experience here is different. First, I become black here. I also learn how to be a midwife, how to paddle, how to fish, things that ordinary people do.)"
