The musically-inclined couple met through singer Martin Nievera, who happens to be their mentor.
During a TV guesting on Magandang Buhay, Martin gave a meaningful piece of marriage advice to KZ and TJ. "The most important thing I think for this two kasi pareho silang sikat, pareho silang songwriter, pareho silang singer in the same business. Take it from someone who was once married to somebody in the same business—it's not easy," shares Martin, who was referring to his ex-wife Pops Fernandez.
He continues, "Somewhere down the road, kahit hindi ngayon, makikita mo na hindi naman sa inggitan but siyempre kung kunwari mas madaming projects si KZ, 'di ba kahit hindi mo naman sinasadya, may competition talaga...
"Everything matters. Ngayon, it doesn't matter kasi it's magic right now 'di ba but it's not the wedding. It's the marriage. You really have to take care of the marriage, and you have to take care of your careers. Kailangan ikaw ang number one fan niya. Dapat ikaw ang number one niya."
Martin went on to talk about his previous relationship with Pops, who was also his constant duet partner in several concerts in the past. "You know what before when Pops and I would do shows, pag solo show ni Pops, after the show, alis si Martin. Kasi I want her to shine by herself."
He adds, "If you could let her shine on her own, and if you could let him shine on his own, not just today, not just the first year, but forever, then you guys will last."
Towards the end of the episode, KZ and TJ asked their mentor to be one of their ninongs in their upcoming wedding.
