Maricel Soriano was reported to have walked off the set of the upcoming teleserye Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin on January 14 after engaging in a shouting match with her co-star Gerald Anderson.

Different sources told PEP.ph that Gerald’s “bad acting” was the source of Maricel’s frustrations. The Diamond Star allegedly screamed at the young actor, saying that he was the cause of delay of their taping. "Ano 'to, Direk? Hindi naman niya nakuha ang tamang pag-arte (What's this, direk? He can't even act properly!)!" she apparently told director Jerome Pobocan, referring to Gerald.

According to the sources, Maricel then walked out from the set. Gerald followed her to apologize, but he still got a loud verbal lashing from the veteran actress, which allegedly reduced him to tears.

According to a text message sent to PEP by ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Head Bong Osorio, Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin will carry on, and Gerald will still be part of the cast. The Diamond Star, however, will be replaced by Dawn Zulueta. Both ABS-CBN and Star Magic have released separate statements on the issue.

"Due to the unfortunate incident between Gerald Anderson and Maricel Soriano on the first taping day of 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,' ABS-CBN management and the management of Maricel Soriano have agreed that Maricel will no longer be part of the cast. The teleserye starring Gerald Anderson will proceed as scheduled," read the statement from ABS-CBN.

"Star Magic has the utmost confidence not only in Gerald Anderson’s exceptional ability as an actor, but also in his unassailable personal character and professional behavior. The incidents that led to the removal of Maricel from Gerald’s latest telenovela were not provoked or instigated by Gerald in any manner."
