FHM Magazine has been asking Marian Rivera to be their cover girl for four years, as their loyal readers have been clamoring for the gorgeous actress to appear in the magazine since she was launched by GMA-7 in the title role of Marimar. So great was her fans’ demand for her that she was crowned as the magazine’s "Sexiest Woman in the World" in 2008 despite not having done a sexy photo shoot. This was why it came as a big surprise when Marian finally granted the magazine’s wish this January 2013, gracing the cover of FHM’s 150th issue.

When asked why she chose to be an FHM cover girl only now, she explained that it was because of the issue’s timing.

“Ngayon lang kasi nag-swak ang mga gusto ko at gusto nila,” Marian was quoted as saying in an article on PEP.ph. “Kahit na 'yung pinakamalaking issue nila at anniversary pa nila. Wala naman akong dahilan para tanggihan ko, dahil nag-swak naman lahat (It was only now that we got what we both wanted. It just so happened that this is their biggest issue, as well as their anniversary. I didn’t have a reason to declinebecause it turned out well.).”

Marian also shared that she really prepared for her cover shoot, even refusing to eat until it was over. “Kasi 'yung konsepto rin na ‘yan at ang katawan ko riyan, talagang pinaghandaan ko talaga,” she said. “Nag-diet ako kahit konti at nag-boxing ako noong papalapit na ang pictorial. At kahit noong pictorial mismo, hindi ako kumakain hangga’t hindi natapos ang shoot (I really prepared my body for the concept. I went on a diet, even if it was just for a short while, and I started boxing as the pictorial date came near. And during the pictorial, I didn’t eat until the shoot was over.).”

Marian also said that she’s open to doing more sexy covers in the future, as long as they will be executed in a presentable manner.

“Sabi ko naman, hindi naman ako nagsasara ng door ko. Pero, magpapaseksi, kung anuman ang i-offer, kung makakaya ko man, pero presentable pa rin, 'yun ang importante sa akin (I told them that I’m not closing any doors. I can be sexy, as long as I can do it and it’s still presentable because those things are important to me.).”
