Luis Manzano is the newest love guru in town. The actor, who is happily married to actress Jessy Mendiola, generously gave sound relationship advice on the recently-concluded press launch of Toblerone’s Valentine’s day kits. Now Luis might be a love expert, but if there’s someone he would definitely take notes from, it’s his dad Edu Manzano, who recently went public with his romance with Cherry Pie Picache.
“It was in a restaurant, and I know one of the servers. He sent me a picture na magkasama si Tita Pie and my dad,” Luis tells Cosmopolitan Philippines, sharing the moment he found out about the couple’s relationship. He then teased his dad afterward and told him he looked happier than usual, to which his dad replied, “Yes, I am.”
Luis expressed his support for his dad’s newfound love. He says if there’s one thing he learned about the two, it’s that “love will find a way”. “Sabi ko nga, love has a knack of catching you by surprise. Once you think you have love figured out, there’s a curveball na darating sa buhay mo.” he says.
He also recalls a conversation with Cherry Pie, whom he treats as a friend long before her love story with his dad blossomed. ICYDK, Luis met the actress during the taping of Kampanerang Kuba, a teleserye top-billed by Anne Curtis in 2005.
He shares, “Sabi ko kay Tita Pie, ‘balik tayo right before this conversation, do you ever think na you will have a relationship [with my dad] or rekindle whatever you guys have 20 years ago?’ Sabi niya, ‘No’, sabi ko, ‘See, gulatan lang talaga!’”
Further praising Edu and Cherry Pie’s relationship, Luis shares, “They are both awesome people! I can see yung alaga ni Tita Pie when we had Christmas lunch at Dad’s house. I can see how happy my dad is with Tita Pie in his life.”
