Entertainment columnist Ricky Lo has confirmed in the October 18 issue of The Philippine Star that celebrity couple Luis Manzano and Jennylyn Mercado have called it quits after spending two years together.

The former couple’s relationship have weathered several intrigues, such as when Jennylyn’s name was dragged into actor Paolo Contis's split from his wife, Lian Paz. However, it was reported that there was no third party involved in their breakup.

“They simply fell out of love,” Lo quoted his sources as saying.

The article also reports that Luis, who was slated to take a vacation later this year with Jennylyn, had changed his round-trip ticket purchase for two into a solo flight.

In her blog, ABS-CBN writer Darla Sauler wrote that Luis himself had confirmed the breakup to her after denying it just a week ago.

“Kasi last week I posted this issue, and he denied it. According to Luis okay naman daw talaga sila that time. And magkasama talaga sila sa Aliw Awards. Pero this time... sadly, pero totoong break na sila (According to Luis, they really were okay that time. And they were together at the Aliw Awards. But this time… sadly, it seems that they have really broken up),” she wrote. “I asked him for his official statement, pero he said that they want this matter to be private na lang (but he said that they want to keep this matter to be private instead.).”

PEP.ph reports that the couple would have celebrated their second anniversary on October 18.
