larry_martin_biggest_loser.jpgThe results of The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition are finally out; the Fab Five contestants had their final weigh-in on October 8, and former policeman Larry Martin emerged the winner with a total weight loss of 101 lbs (39.61 percent of his body weight). From his initial weight of 255 lbs, he currently weighs 154 lbs.

Larry, who once said he'd lost his self-respect after gaining weight, now has his confidence back. Besides winning prizes like P1 million and a condominium unit, PEP.ph reports that he will also be on the cover of Men's Health Philippines' November issue.

In an interview with Boy Abunda on news program Bandila on October 10, Larry expressed his desire to go back to work. "Ayaw ko na sa dati kong ginagawa (I don't want to do what I was previously doing anymore)," he is quoted as saying on ABS-CBNNews.com. "Ang gusto ko po ay makatulong ako sa kapwa pulis ko sa physical fitness program, kung mayroon po doon ako. (What I want to do now is help my fellow policemen through a physical fitness program. If there is one, that's where I want to be.)"

Larry used to work under the drug enforcement unit, but now he aims to teach other policemen about staying fit and healthy. "Disiplina pa din ang kailangan ng tao," he wants to remind them. "'Yun pa din ang unang-una. (Discipline is still the most important thing a person needs. That's really what should be first.)"

PNP Chief Nicanor Bartolome says they're already looking at Larry's records, and he will most likely get his wish: to join the physical fitness unit. "Alam naman natin na yung ipinakita niya ay napakaganda para sa amin sa Philippine National Police (We already know that what he has shown is really good for the Philippine National Police)," he is quoted as saying on PEP.ph. "Yung determinasyon na ipinakita niya, para sa amin ay isang inspirasyon. (The determination he showed is such an inspiration to us.)"

After five months of working hard, Larry says he's lost pounds but gained so much more in other aspects. "Yung pagmamahal po sa pamilya. Yung respeto sa sarili at respeto sa ibang tao. (My love for my family. My self-respect and respect for others.)"

Meanwhile, the other members of the Fab Five also won big after ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III declared they were each getting P500,000 regardless of their final ranking. Art Mendoza was the second biggest loser after losing 129 lbs or 37.83 percent of his weight, while Raffy Tan placed third with a 100-pound weight loss at 34.84 percent. Angela Lupangco and Hazel Chua placed fourth and fifth respectively.
