Kris Aquino seems to be really set on running for public office come 2016. However, unlike her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, the country’s Queen of all Media says she would like to run for a local government post first before aspiring for a higher position.

“Unlike PNoy who went straight to Congress, I really like to try to follow my dad's [the late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino] footsteps and be a mayor,” she was quoted as saying in an article on PEP.ph. "Naghahanap pa ako ng city… and sinabi ko na I can’t run in Makati where I’m a voter kasi hindi ko sila [the Binays] kayang talunin (I’m still looking for a city… and I already said that I can’t run in Makati where I’m a voter because I can’t defeat the Binays.).”

She likewise dismissed the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ claim that her running for public office will set a bad precedent for political dynasties.

"Sa laki ng buwis na ibinabayad ko, may karapatan ako (With the huge taxes I pay, I have every right to run),” she said, laughing.

Kris also said that she wants to train for the position by observing the mayors of Davao City and Iloilo City.

“After making ikot, I've seen bonggang cities. In particular, tumatak sa akin ang Davao City and Iloilo City (After going around, I've seen spectacular cities, In particular, I was impressed by Davao City and Iloilo City.). Naramdaman ko (I felt) that I would like OJT, on-the-job training with those mayors,” she said.
