Kris Aquino is open to the idea of joining politics, saying that she considers it a possible “career path.” Such a decision would result in her following the footsteps of several members of her family, most notably her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, and her parents, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and President Corazon Aquino.

Kris thinks she already possesses some of the traits that make a good politician, like being hardworking and being able to get along easily with different kinds of people. However, a report by says that Kris would only be willing to run for a position under two conditions.

"Yes, it's obviously a career path, but I'll only get into it if I know, Boy, that I'll be number one," she was quoted as telling The Buzz host Boy Abunda on the show’s December 30 episode. "'Di ba, sorry, ganoon 'di ba, nakakahiya naman kung hindi, 'di ba (Sorry, but that’s how it works, it would be embarrassing if I’m not [number one], right?)?"

"And pangalawa, kung talagang sobrang selfless na ako at hindi na ako maluho. Kasi kaya ko naman talaga 'yung pakikitungo sa tao, pakikisama. 'Yung sipag, I have that (Second, if I’ll stop being extravagant and I’ll be truly selfless. Because I can get along with different people. I’m hardworking.). I don't have the simplicity yet. And I think to be a really good public servant, you need to be simple," Kris, who is one of the country's highest paid celebrities and is known for splurging on designer items, explained.

Aside from these personal decisions, also reported that Kris is also legally prohibited by a contract she signed in 2012 from running for public office in 2013. A separate contract likewise forbids her to marry a government official.
