Kim finally revealed how she coped with their so-called “breakup” in an interview on The Buzz on August 14. She said that while she’d cried over the experience, she was also thankful that she’d had the chance to go through the pain. "I learned to love myself more. I learned how to be strong. And kung hindi ka naman nagmahal, hindi ka naman masasaktan eh. So thankful ako na naramdaman ko 'yun (If you've never loved, you you would never be hurt either. So I’m thankful that I was able to feel that),” she is quoted as saying on ABS-CBNNews.com.
Now that she and Gerald have gone their separate ways, she says the two of them have become “better friends.” “Kami ni Gerald, sobrang okay namin (Gerald and I are on really good terms),” she is quoted as saying. “Hanggang ngayon, andiyan siya 'pag may problema. 'Pag hindi ko na kaya, kinakausap ko siya, nakikinig siya. (He’s still there for me when I have problems. When I can’t take things, I talk to him. He still listens.)”
