Canadian superstar Justin Bieber recently posted a series of photos of Manny Pacquiao on the photo-sharing site Instagram, which caused quite a stir online.

The first photo was of the 2009 Mayweather-Marquez fight where the former clearly knocked down the Mexican boxer, posted with the hashtags #moneyteam and #nocompetition. The second post made Pacquiao look like he was doing a Michael Jackson “lean” with the King of Pop himself and several backup dancers, while the third post was of Pacquiao lying face first on the ring with an animated Simba from the Disney animated movie The Lion King pawing at him. The said photo was posted along with the caption, “Dad wake up.”

While it is yet unclear whether Bieber was the one who actually created the photos, he has nevertheless earned the ire of many Filipinos. An article on Manila Bulletin highlighted some of the reactions of the netizens:

nerdyhipsta9818 wrote, “Wow Justin. Can't believe you said that. You just lost all my respect. Hope your happy.”

danadalson also wrote,“well, pacquiao's our national hero. with all due respect to Justin. he's a big star, which makes his every move a big deal. this is just really wrong.”

Despite such reactions, however, Manila Bulletin reports that Bieber’s posts have earned 200,000 likes as of their press time.
