Filipino-Mexican singer Jessica Sanchez fought hard on American Idol performance night, making Filipinos proud as she belted out three songs flawlessly in an effort to win a spot in the finals.

For her rendition of Mariah Carey's "My All," a song judge Jennifer Lopez picked for her, Jessica looked stunning in a purple dupioni silk gown by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino. The mermaid-cut dress had a bustier-draped bodice with ruffles and pleats accenting the hip.

“I was so happy to get the opportunity to dress her,” Oliver said in a statement. “I always consider it an honor to dress Filipinos whenever they are representing us on the international stage. I consider it my patriotic duty.”

Other Filipinos on the international circuit have worn Oliver's creations in the past, among them journey frontman Arnel Pineda, journalist Kara David, and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga. Hollywood stars have also worn his couture recently. A few include Anna Paquin (True Blood), Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera), and Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl). His work was even featured on America's Next Top Model: British Invasion in February.

Jessica also sang Jackson 5's "I'll Be There," which music executive Jimmy Iovine chose for her, but it was her rendition of Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"--a song she chose herself--that earned her the most accolades. She got a standing ovation from judge Steven Tyler, Aerosmith's frontman.
