News of actress Jennylyn Mercado and actor Dennis Trillo’s breakup appeared on PEP.ph on March 24 after Dennis’s manager, Popoy Caritativo, confirmed the situation two days before. According to a source close to them, the two stars allegedly broke up over a “small and mababaw” fight. Becky Aguila, Jennylyn’s manager, released a statement through text on March 25. In her message, which was quoted on PEP.ph, she confirmed the breakup and said Jen was heartbroken. “She's still trying to cope up [with the] pain she is going [through] and needs time alone.”
A week after the confirmation, the breakup continues to be a big issue as the two stars’ managers exchange cruel words. According to PEP.ph, Popoy posted a series of Tweets about a certain “laos” and “iniiwan ng talent” manager on his Twitter account. “This Manager is resorting to old tricks para pag-usapan alaga nya. Di kami pumapatol sa gimmick pero pag ako nainis, ilalabas ko ang totoo (This manager is resorting to old tricks so that people will talk about his or her charge. We don’t ride gimmicks, but if I get really angry, I’ll reveal the truth.)”
Although the Tweets didn’t name anyone, Becky claimed it was obvious they were for her as Popoy had also told Becky’s attorney, Atty. Joji Alonso, to stop spreading lies about Dennis. “It's so unbecoming of Popoy to act impulsive...when he criticized and accused me on Twitter without proper evidence. He took it to a personal level, and that shows how unprofessional as a manager he is. I demand an apology!” she told PEP.ph.
But while their managers wage a war of words, both Dennis and Jennylyn have kept silent about the issue.
