It was in June of last year when news about Chris Evans dating his co-star Jenny Slate was publicized, and the Internet went wild. They looked so at ease and in love, especially when they made their first public appearance together at the premiere of The Secret Life of Pets, where Jenny voiced the character Gidget (a white Pomeranian who has feelings for Max, voiced by comedian Louis C.K.).

Unfortunately, the 35-year old actor and Parks and Reacreation actress broke up just last February after nine months of dating; and although it’s a sad feeling to see two people in love part ways, the actress had nothing but good things to say about her ex-boyfriend. “I first really liked Chris as a person because he is so unpretentious,” said Slate. “He is a straight-up 35-year-old man who wants to play games. That’s it. I was like, ‘I’d better not discount this, because this is purity.’ ”

According to her interview with Vulture, it was their clear differences that led to the breakup. “Chris is a very, very famous person. For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.”
