Actress Jennifer Garner insists her marriage split hasn’t been as “bad” as people think.
The 43-year-old Hollywood star separated from Ben Affleck last summer, after ten years of marriage and three children together. Jennifer recently said she was “heartbroken” following the demise of the relationship, but maintains she is handling the situation well despite being in the spotlight.
“You know what? It’s not easy to go through it, period,” she said during an interview on NBC’s Today show on Wednesday. “I have found going through it in the public eye, it’s just another facet of it. For anyone when your life shifts in any way, it’s tricky enough.
“But I have found people to be so warm and loving that it hasn’t been nearly as bad as you might imagine.”
Jennifer went on to say that she is thankful for the public support she and her three children – Violet, ten, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, four – have received since news broke about the split.
Although both Jennifer and Ben are adjusting to a huge change in their lives, they are committed to putting the children first and working together as parents. While Jennifer is busy promoting her new movie Miracles from Heaven, Ben has stayed at home with the children so they can carry on with their usual routines.
“People have been so kind to my whole family, and we really do appreciate it,” Jennifer replied when told during the Today interview that the public “adore” her. “But, you know what, we’re doing really well. Thank you. The kids are great. They’ll be getting up in the morning and going to school soon, and Ben is there and he’ll be taking them. We will make it work.”
During a recent candid interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer spoke out about the breakdown of her marriage. She described Ben as a “complicated guy” who made people feel amazing but could also cast “quite a shadow” if you fell out of favor with him. The actress also said Ben was the only person who “really knows the truth” about their situation, but insists she had no regrets about marrying him.
