Janine Tugonon, the first runner-up of the 2012 Miss Universe pageant, has admitted that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend Jaypee Santos when they appeared as guests on the April 16 episode of Kris TV.

PEP.ph reports that the show’s hosts, Kris Aquino and John “Sweet” Lapus, had no idea that the couple were not on good terms."Actually, honestly ngayon (right now), we are not on good terms,” Janine had replied when Kris asked her if they fought. She later admitted that the cause of their breakup was Danny O’Donoghue, the lead vocalist of Irish band The Script, whom she met during the group’s meet and greet for their recent concert.

“Nanood kami ng concert. Kasi, di ba, sa Araneta may meet and greet? Since kilala ko ang staff ng Araneta, sabi ko sa kanila, ‘Sobra akong fan ng The Script, puwede bang ma-meet ko?’ ‘Tapos na-meet niya ako,” she recalled. “Nandoon siya [Jaypee]. Ipinakilala ko nga siya kasi tinanong niya [Danny], ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ Sabi ko, ‘Yeah, that's my boyfriend.’ Tapos 'yon, sabi niya, ‘Follow me on Twitter and I will follow you back.’ Tapos nag-direct message siya (We watched the concert, and there was a meet and greet at Araneta. Since I knew the staff at Araneta, I told them, ‘I’m a huge fan of The Script, can I meet them?’ So he met me. Jaypee was there. I even introduced him because Danny asked, ‘Do you have a boyfriend?’ So I said, ‘Yeah, that’s my boyfriend.’ Then he told me, ‘Follow me on Twitter and I will follow you back.’ Then he sent me a direct message.).”

Janine’s ongoing correspondence with Danny sent Jaypee fuming.

“Oo, talagang [nagalit] siya [Jaypee] kasi sabi niya, ‘Kung ayaw mo talaga sa taong ‘yan, hindi mo siya kokontakin (Yes, Jaypee really got mad because he said, ‘If you really don’t like that person, you wouldn’t contact him.).’” she said.

This made Janine realize that it might be time to break off her relationship with her boyfriend.

“Kasi nga ayaw ko naman na may iba akong iniisip. Parang sabi ko lang sa kanya, siguro I need some time to think talaga (Because I didn’t want to be thinking of someone else. So I told him, maybe I need some time to really think),” she said.
