PEP reports that transgender singer Jake Zyrus revealed that on March 29, 2017 he had his breasts surgically removed through a medical procedure known as female to male (FTM) chest reconstruction surgery or "top surgery."
The singer, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, stated in his solo interview by TV5 reporter MJ Marfori that Dr. Pie Calayan did the operation. He also shared: "I'm so happy kasi sobrang—hindi naman sa ano—pero maganda. I know hindi pa ako nagpapa-sex transplant, pero I feel complete," he said.
Jake discloses that he's also taking intravenous testosterone booster for his physical transition: "Ngayon, I'm on testosterone, two months. [Yung] injection every three months."
PEP notes: "Jake said that he's also aware of the negative feedback that he's getting from bashers. But he maintained that he is trying hard to stay strong because he wants a 'younger generation' of LGBTs to be inspired by his story of transformation."
