Since Marian Rivera has confirmed that her contract with GMA-7 will end in August, several people have started speculating that she will be transferring to another network, more so after she admitted that she had dinner with TV5 chairman Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP). However, the Kapuso artist insisted that the dinner, which was held at MVP’s home, was just the businessman’s way of letting her know that he considers her as one of the country’s brightest stars.

“Wala lang, parang gusto lang nila akong makilala, gusto lang makita,” she was quoted as saying in an article on PEP.ph. “Siyempre, may mga bagay na pinag-usapan, ayoko na ding i-elaborate… natuwa ako dahil, bilang artista, para i-consider ka nila sa isa sa pinakagusto nilang artista, na i-invite ka pa nila for dinner… Ang sarap naman 'nun para sa akin na pinapahalagahan nila ako nang 'ganun (He just wanted to know me, to see me. Of course, we discussed many things, which I won’t elaborate on… I’m happy because as an artist, for them to consider you as one of their favorite artists, to invite you for dinner… It feels nice that they regard you in such an important manner.).”

But when Marian was asked if the rival network was actively pursuing her, she refused to give a direct answer.

“Read between the lines na lang (Just read between the lines),” she said.

However, Marian still assured the public that she is still very satisfied with how she is being treated at GMA-7 and that she is very grateful to the network for providing her with her big break.

“Malaki ang utang na loob ko din sa GMA,” she said. “Kung hindi dahil sa kanila, sa pagbibigay nila sa akin ng Marimar, e, di wala naman aketch (I’m very grateful to GMA. If it weren’t for them, if they didn’t ask me to play Marimar, then I wouldn’t be here!)!”
