Months have passed since hit drama Crash Landing on You aired on the small screens, but many can't get over the show, especially its charming leading man, Hyun Bin. The 37-year-old actor who played a North Korean soldier has won a special place in the hearts of Pinay fans.
Before starring in his breakthrough series CLOY, Hyun Bin is known for his roles in classic K-dramas My Lovely Sam Soon (2005) and Secret Garden (2010). Here are some interesting facts about this oppa that you probably don't know yet:
1. He is a self-confessed introvert.
Like many creative people, the Korean actor sees himself as an introvert. In an interview with KBS World, Hyun Bin shared that his delicate character in Late Autumn named Hoon is a lot like himself in real life. He said, "I am a somewhat introverted person, more like Hoon rather than Joo-won." Hyun Bin plays Kim Joo-in hit drama Secret Garden.
"My real personality is more similar to Hoon rather than Joo-won. Joo-won can say anything he wants to say out loud, but actually I cannot. I am more like Hoon because he keeps his thoughts inside and expresses his feelings in different ways."
2. He dated co-star Song Hye Kyo.
Hyun Bin and Song Hye Kyo starred in 2008 drama The World That They Live In—or otherwise known as Worlds Within—and developed feelings for each other. The two started dating after shooting the drama. Sadly, they decided to split ways after two years due to conflicting schedules.
3. Hyun Bin is only his stage name.
His real name is Kim Tae-Pyung!
4. My Lovely Sam Soon became his breakout project.
Hyun Bin gained fans across Asia after starring in rom-com series, My Lovely Sam Soon. The drama became a huge hit and it won the "Top Excellence Award" at the MBC Drama Awards.
In the series, he plays Hyun Jin-heon, a wealthy hotel and restaurant owner. He crosses paths with talented baker Kim-Sam-soon (Kim Sun Ah) and witnesses her get dumped by her boyfriend in a hotel. As the story unfolds, Hyun Jin-heon hires Kim-Sam-soon as a pastry chef. Things get interesting when Kim Sam-soon pretends to be Hyun Jin-heon's girlfriend to keep his matchmaking mother off his back.
5. He isn't a heavy drinker.
In another interview with KBS World, Hyun Bin revealed that he doesn't have a high tolerance with alcohol, adding that he usually only drinks a bottle or a bottle and a half. "[My face] gets beet red. I get red all over."
