It has been over a week since Estrella “Inday” Barretto accused her daughter, actress Gretchen Barretto, of being an evil, manipulative liar, forcing the other Barretto siblings to take their sides in the feud. Gretchen’s brother Jay-Jay has since released a letter defending Gretchen, while Gia, a sister based in the United States, asked her famous sibling to “totally disappear” from their lives.

Despite this, Gretchen had remained quiet throughout the ordeal, and she only aired her side to PEP.ph’s editor in chief Jo-Ann Maglipon on the evening of May 2.

"Forgive me, Jo-Ann, masakit pag-usapan o balikan ang aking nakaraan (Forgive me, Jo-Ann, it’s painful to talk about or revisit my past),” the embattled actress had said in a text message. "I was advised by my lawyers here in Manila and our American lawyers to keep mum. We will let the case speak for itself. Masakit itong gagawin kong hakbang pero kinakailangan para makamit ko ang aking katahimikan (The step I’m going to take will be painful, but I have to do this so I can have peace.)."

PEP.ph then asked Gretchen if she is thinking of suing Gia after noting her mention of American lawyers.

"Yes, Gia is based in Boston. Our local lawyers, the Siguion-Reyna group, advised that we take action there," Gretchen had replied, referring to the the Siguion-Reyna, Montecillo, & Ongsiako law firm.

Gretchen, however, did not mention any plans of taking legal action against her mother.
