Gretchen Barretto has admitted that she has given up trying to reconcile with her mother, Mrs. Inday Barretto, who had disowned her and had sided with her sister, Claudine Barretto, in what turned out to be a huge family feud.

“I’m moving on now,” she was quoted as saying by PEP.ph in an interview aired on TV Patrol on May 24. “I try not to talk about anything that’s painful and negative.”

Gretchen also said that she’s very proud of her niece, Marjorie Barretto’s daughter Julia Barretto.

“She will be greater than me. Lahat ng ibinibigay ni Marjorie kay Julia (Marjorie gave everything to Julia.),” she declared. “So, she will be guided with love. So, Julia will be greater than anyone of us.”

However, Julia would rather keep mum about the feud between her mother and her aunts.

“I don’t wanna talk about that, comment about that, because 'yung mga pinag-uusapan ng mga titas ko, my mom, sa kanila na lang 'yun (because whatever my aunts and my mom talk about is just between them),” she was quoted as saying in another article on PEP.ph. She also dismisses rumors that her aunt, Claudine Barretto, is barring her entry into the showbiz industry.

"Hindi niya magagawa (She wouldn't do that.)."
