Gretchen Barretto’s Instagram followers believe that an image she posted on September 2 was her reply to her mother Inday Barretto’s description of her as “malicious” and “evil” due to her decision to side with Raymart Santiago, the estranged husband of her sister Claudine Barretto.

“Knowing when to walk away, is wisdom. Being able to, is courage. Walking away with your head held high is dignity,” read the words on the image.

Gretchen also added the caption, “Oh so perfect. self preservation. Loving and respect yourself.”

PEP.ph reports that Gretchen has also reacted to her father Miguel Barretto’s referring to her as a “bad apple,” revealing that she has been enduring their “verbal and emotional abuse” for 43 years.

“I can thank God for his mercy never fails. The truth is finally unfolding. I have suffered in silence for 43 years of my life. It has been the most difficult and painful journey. Although the verbal and emotional abuse continue, I pray that I am given the grace to walk away from it all,” she wrote in response to a comment.

Gretchen’s sister, Marjorie Barretto, also showed her support for her older sibling through a post on her own Instagram account that read, “Too Much!!!” However, according to PEP.ph, a user with the handle @annieganda28 had urged Marjorie to side with Claudine as it was the younger Barretto who had allegedly helped her and her family after Gretchen reportedly kicked them to the curb. Marjorie dismissed the story, saying that @annieganda28 did not know what she was talking about.

“Please don't make up a stories as dramatic as that. Walang nangyaring ganyan (nothing like that happened), sounds like a good script for Maala-ala Mo Kaya,” she wrote in response. “Thanks for your advice but first you have to know what you are talking about. In reality, what you are saying that I should do is not possible.”
