Glaiza de Castro had a simple dream back in grade school: to have her own pair of rubber shoes.
“Meron lang ako isang pair,” she recalled. “Tapos sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Kapag nagkaroon ako ng pera, bibili ako ng maraming rubber shoes, maraming sneakers.’”
As she grew up and became famous, Glaiza did buy herself a lot of shoes. In fact, the GMA-7 star now has no clue as to how many pairs she actually owns.
“Hindi ko na alam kung paano ko sila iaaayos! Iyong mga iba, siyempre, pinapamigay ko na… Mga heels din. Hindi kasi ako ma-heels, pero since kailangan ko sa trabaho ko, kailangan ko mag-invest din. So ayon, dumami din ang collection.”
PEP.ph and GMA Network had a chat with the Contessa actress after the launch of Butterfly Twists’ Summer-Spring 2018 collection at Early Night? in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. While Glaiza admits to having a lot of shoes, her "most expensive pair" is relatively cheaper than what other celebs invest in.
"Parang ang pinaka-expensive yata iyong mga boots ko na mga P13,000... Hanggang doon lang lang kaya ko! Kapag lumagpas na siya ng 20 or 30 [thousand pesos], parang pinag-iisipan ko na.”
She further explained that she never really had a penchant for exorbitantly-priced designer shoes. “I would never do that. Hindi ako mahilig sa branded, e. More on sa comfort ang hinahanap ko, kasi ano naman ang sinabi ng mga Louboutin kung ang sakit-sakit naman ng paa mo, 'di ba?
“Parang okay, nage-gets ko naman na bilang artista, kailangan din namin siya, pero hindi ako ganon, e! Ayoko naman i-risk iyong hard-earned money ko para lang magpasikat or para lang masabi na, ‘Uy, meron akong Louboutin! Meron akong Jimmy Choo!’ iyong ganon? Pang-travel na lang, di ba?”
