Gerald Anderson has finally opened up about the real score between him and Maja Salvador. In an interview aired on Sunday talk show The Buzz, the actor said he only started hanging out with the Ina, Kapatid, Anak actress when they chanced upon each other during a recent trip to Misibis Bay. Maja was there for her cousin’s bridal shower, while Gerald was there with his sibling and friend.

Siyempre, hindi ko naman i-invite ang sarili ko sa bridal shower ng pinsan niya (Of course I wouldn’t invite myself to her cousin’s bridal shower),” he was quoted by as saying.

“Maja and I were not really friends po talaga—totoo po ‘yan,” he continued. “Kahit bago pa ‘yan, hindi kami masyadong magka-text. That was the first time na magkasama kami ni Maja…During our activities po, 'yung ginagawa ng ibang tao sa beach, parang nakita ko sa kanya na, ‘Wow, parang masaya siyang kasama, charming, mabait (Maja and I were not really friends—that’s the truth. We didn’t text a lot even before. That was the first time that I got to spend time with Maja… During our activities, what other people do at the beach, I saw that she seemed like a fun person to be with, as she's charming and kind.).’”

“So when we came back, being single at matagal na rin akong single… siya rin, single siya at that time, parang ano ang masama kung yayain ko siyang lumabas? Mas makilala namin ang isa’t isa? 'Yun nga lang, inunahan ng maraming tao. Meron na agad naninira, accusation. Ewan ko, parang it has blown out of proportions agad. Parang hindi pa kami nagdi-date, lumabas na kaming dalawa (So when we came back, being single and since I have been single for a long time… since she was also single at that time, I thought there would be nothing wrong if I asked her to go out, to get to know each other better. Unfortunately, people started assuming. There were detractors and accusations. I don’t know, it seemed like it was immediately blown out of proportion. We haven’t even gone out on a date, just the two of us.).”

Despite this, Gerald maintained that he’s still open to courting the actress. “I’d love to—kung bibigyan niya ako ng chance (I’d love to—if she would give me a chance.).”

When asked to comment on the rumored rift he caused between Maja and Kim Chiu, who is Gerald's ex-girlfriend and one of Maja's closest friends in the industry, Gerald said he believes that everything will turn out okay as long as the situation is handled maturely.

Alam ko na sensitive ito. Pero alam ko, magiging maayos din ito. Magiging maayos siya—depende sa maturity ng bawat isa na kasama sa sitwasyon (I know that this is a sensitive situation. But I know that it will turn out okay. Things will turn out all right—depending on the maturity of the individuals involved in the situation.).”
