Being an artist requires an inordinate amount of self-confidence. Joining the tricky world of showbiz means letting the public scrutinize every little thing you do, and you’ll have to defend yourself against rumors, intrigues, bashers, and a whole lot of negative flak.

Giselle Töngi-Walters knows this quite well, especially since she has been a familiar name in the industry as an actress, host, and VJ for several years now. She may have left the Philippines almost a decade ago to pursue a “normal” life in the United States—an experience that only made her happier, stronger, and more self-assured. We were able to chat with her during her cover shoot for the January-February 2013 issue of Good Housekeeping, and she shared with us four of her foolproof tricks to staying confident.
