In the comfort of her new country-cottage home, Kris Aquino talks about family life, romance, the future—and the special man in her life now: Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
“Matagal na naming kilala ang isa’t isa, pero ’yong naging kilala namin ang isa’t isa, recently lang,” the TV host, actress, product endorser, movie and concert producer, and social media influencer says of Mayor Herbert.
She adds that they do things that two people trying to get to know each other do, like going for coffee or to catch a movie. But their dates aren’t just between them because they have their respective bodyguards, and they attract attention wherever they go.
The Queen of All Media clarifies that they don’t go out often since they are both busy, a fact that also helps sustain what she and the mayor have now.
What makes Kris and Herbert click? “This is the first time I am seeing someone who is age-appropriate,” she explains. “Parang we grew up listening to the same music, we’ve read the same books, and ’yong pinagdaanan niya sa buhay, medyo similar sa pinagdaanan ng life ko.”
She appreciates their similarities, as well as their differences, which, it turns out, complement their personalities and temperaments. “I learn something new from him every day,” she says.
As for her new home, which she shares with her sons Josh and Bimby, Kris describes it as “magaan” and one that has “inspired the most peace.”
She adds: “And to think, parang nahihiya man akong sabihin, kasi sasabihin nila, ‘Hello, ’yan ba ’yong simple?’—pero feeling ko, nag-simplify ako ngayon. Simple naman is relative. So let’s just say nag-scale-down, na parang it’s home. For us, it really feels like home.”
