Several prominent media personalities have denounced one of the jokes that comedian Vice Ganda made during his I-Vice Ganda Mo ‘Ko Sa Araneta concert held last May 17.

PEP.ph reports that in the third segment of the concert, Vice had mentioned a few famous names in the industry and wondered about how they would turn out if they became bold stars. One of the names he mentioned was journalist Jessica Soho, the vice-president of GMA’s News and Public Affairs division. Vice first made fun of Jessica’s weight, then proceeded to muse about what will happen should she gets cast in a movie with a rape scene.

"Ang hirap nga lang kung si Jessica Soho magbo-bold. Kailangan gang rape lagi. Sasabihin ng rapist, 'Ipasa ang lechon!' Sasabihin naman ni Jessica, 'Eh nasaan 'yung apple (It would be difficult if Jessica Soho were to star in a bold movie. Her scenes would always involve gang rape. The rapist would say, 'Pass the roasted pork.' Then Jessica would reply, 'But where's the apple?')?’” Vice had said.

However, this jest was not taken lightly by Jessica’s colleagues. “Bakit mo binibiktima ang mga taong seryoso sa trabaho nila? Huwag mo silang kasangkapanin para lang makapagpatawa (Why are you victimizing people who are serious about their jobs? Don’t use them as instruments for your jokes),” Newscaster Arnold Clavio said on his radio show on DZBB aired on May 28.

Other media personalities have since rose to Jessica’s defense and had expressed their dismay at Vice Ganda’s joke. Click "next" for a few of their tweets.
