Ryan Murphy, the creator of TV musical-comedy Glee, has declared that the show will end after its sixth season.
He confirmed the series' final season in a speech delivered on October 16 at an FX Network event. He added that he has to rethink his plans for the series finale, following the unexpected death of Glee star Cory Monteith in July due to alcohol and heroin overdose.
"When a tragedy like that happens, you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now," he was quoted by Bang Showbiz as saying.
He revealed that he originally intended the final season to revolve around the love story of Finn Hudson and Rachel Berry, who are played by Cory and his real-life girlfriend Lea Michele.
"I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was, she said it to him," Ryan said.
Glee did a tribute for Cory in the episode The Quarterback, which aired on October 10. The show is currently in its fifth season.
