Not too long after model Deniece Cornejo accused actor-host Vhong Navarro of rape did former beauty contestant Roxanne Cabañero come out with her own set of allegations. This prompted others to speculate about whether Deniece and Roxanne knew each other before the incident. However, the model says she has no connection to Roxanne at all, reports PEP.ph.
“I don’t know Roxanne. ‘Di naman ako sumasali sa beauty pageant (I don't join beauty pageants). I’m in [the] fashion industry,” she was quoted as saying.
The 22-year-old also said that Roxanne was not one of the “random people” who texted her after news of the incident broke out last month.
“No. From random [people], my model friends. General lang mga sinabi. ’Cause they know the attitude of that guy na hindi ko naman alam (The know something about that guy that I didn't.).”
In her Instagram account, Deniece also left a few messages pertaining to her case.
“You're not just afraid for your family. You're afraid of people to know your real character behind the camera. I was the one who asked to sent you in jail and you agreed and you feel sorry about it.
“At para huwag na mang-rape ng paulit-ulit dahil hindi lahat ng babae easy to get (And so you can't keep on raping women because not all of them are easy to get.). And I know you know me from the very start that is why you grabbed the opportunity.”
She also slammed a certain network for reporting biased news against her.
“Dear station I understand your [sic] just doing your job and that is business. You portrayed me as a bad girl which everything ay ‘kasinungalingan at kabaligtaran (lies and the complete opposite of the truth).’ Wala kahit isa pinalabas na maganda at tama (Not one was presented decently and correctly.).”
“You did not even had the courtesy to ask permission to televised [sic] my private life and confirmed if everything you wrote ay makatotohanan ba (...if everything you wrote was true.).”
It is generally believed that Deniece is referring to a Buzz ng Bayan report where Boy Abunda uncovered her previous job at Room 526 Piano Bar and Restaurant.
